Barbara resides in Tucson, Arizona

Barbara has spent the majority of her adult life in the educational community as an instructor of a broad variety of artistic skills and understanding; art appreciation, drawing, art history, figure drawing, illustration to name a few areas. She received her Master of Fine Arts from the University of New Orleans in 1990. In the past fifteen years she has showed her works in many exhibits and received many awards.

"My new work has been inspired by the scientific notions of what our world might be like without human beings. In one theory, all types of wildlife took over the ruins of abandoned architectural structures where species thrived.
In this current mixed-media series, birds specifically are placed in a surrounding environment with non-objective or abstracted architectural and topographical landscape references connoting boundary lines, borders, fences, confinement, containers and weather. The geometric grids drawn into the foundations of the paintings are meant to evoke satellite images of the earth.
Additionally, I have endeavored to create a level of 'glorification' of the various bird 'portraits' in order to convey the idea of the elevated stature of these incredibly beautiful, magnificently majestic species on our planet."
