Jackie Buffington
Originals

Jackie spent her early childhood in Kansas, but most of her life is rooted in Texas. Although mostly self taught, formal training has been her foundation for her knowledge of art. She has been selling and doing shows for the last 25 years. Backed by a large reference library consisting of books, magazines, and personal photographs, she is able to pay attention to every detail of her subject and its background. Hours of study and sketches goes into each rendering before the first drop of paint touches the final production.

Jackie is a realist that brings life to each finished product. She is a watercolorist who uses the wet in wet techniques with a dry brush treatment to create intense detail images of God's winged creatures. Bird watching has increased her love for her subjects.

Jackie has won several best of shows and numerous first place awards. The one she cherishes the most is the Peoples Choice Award.

"I love the color blue the bird has always caught my eye. The limb he is sitting on was done from a stick of wood I picked up some where during our travels. It had this beautiful lichen all over it and I knew I'd use it someday in a painting.
I like to simplify the subject and not clutter it all up with stuff so that you can go right to the subject. It has taken me a long time of trial and error to learn to control my detail. I think that is why this one works so well. It's simple and to the point just the way a painting should be. It also shows the characteristic of the bird as well." The Artist
