Tim grew up in Toronto, and has had a life-long interest in art as well as environmental concerns. As a child he had an avid interest drawing, painting and cartooning and at 12 took part in Saturday morning classes at the Art Gallery of Ontario. Later on he developed an interest in drawing the human figure and in illustration. He attended the Ontario College of Art and participated in the off-campus studies program in Florence, Italy, in 1980-81 and explored some of the many disciplines of the arts. After graduating he pursued a career as a caricaturist and illustrator and eventually focused in on his interest in realism and nature.

“I consider myself to be a realist and I like to work with nature themes. Nature offers the opportunity for experimentation and improvisation, although faithfulness to the subject matter in a formal landscape is a primary concern. My main interests currently are landscapes as well as the human figure and occasionally animals. I find the colours, patterns and forms found in nature to be and endless source of fascination and inspiration for me. It is often difficult finding appropriate places and subject matter, however, as these things often come up completely by accident. Nature is highly unpredictable. I enjoy working in a variety of media, including oil, acrylic, tempera and watercolour. I am interested in landscapes, wildlife and domestic animals, environmental as well as human issues.”

His work hangs in private collections in Canada, Britain, and the United States.
