| "This painting was originally done as an entry in the federal duck stamp contest. The research is based on some photos I took while teaching an artists workshop at the Kellogg Bird Sanctuary in southern Michigan. It is an excellent place to visit and watch wild geese return to the lake there, after feeding in the nearby fields. I have always loved the sight of Canada Geese as they cruise over the marsh. I decided to place the view in the cattails as you watch a small group of these magnificent birds fly by. It is one of my favorite small paintings and it seems to be a favorite of my artist friends." - Rod Lawrence |
