Robert-Cook-1Born in 1962 in Lincolnshire, Robert now resides in Lancashire on the west coast of England. He has painted for several years, originally working as a freelance illustrator before lecturing full time in natural history illustration. In his wildlife painting Robert uses various mediums to capture intimate moments of birds in their natural habitat. More recently his work has focused on artworks that endeavour to express the individuality and identity of animals in a zoo environment.
He has exhibited widely in the UK including, the National Exhibition of Wildlife Art (NEWA), The Mall Galleries and The Wykeham Gallery. In 2010 he was Artist In Residence at ‘Nature in Art’ Gloucester. He has been included in the Leigh Yawkey Woodson’s ‘Birds in Art’ three times including the 2010 – associated tour. He has a work in the museum’s permanent collection.
Robert has several awards for his artwork and he is a signature member of the Society of Animal Artists (SAA).
