Dan Williams was born on a lake in Minnesota in 1948 and painted boats
every spring on his family resort. He started painting birds while
under an apprenticeship to sculptor John Waddell in Sedona, Arizona. Now Dan lives in the Catskill Mountains in upstate New York where he paints birds he sketched from his travels in the northern Great Lakes to Europe. He portrays primitive Egyptian hawks, various jade and turquoise from China, and small tapestry-style birds with rare charm. Dan's work often explores the interaction of his birds, whether simply nesting, posing, hunting, mating...The most unusual aspect of Dan's art is the emergence of the effect of an ancient tapestry in his intimate, unique portraiture of birds. He has exhibited in Sedona, Arizona, New York City and all through the Catskills. His art is dearly cherished by everyone who has purchased a piece. |
